Schiap by Schiaparelli c1934

Schiap by Schiaparelli: launched in 1934. This was the updated fragrance originally named 'S', first presented in 1928. Renamed Sport in 1952.  It was created to be worn by both men and women for sports.

Fragrance Composition:


So what did it smell like? It was a sporty unisex fragrance that was both fresh and bittersweet with dominant notes of Madonna lily and hyacinth.
  • Top notes: citrus, Madonna lily, hyacinth
  • Middle notes: lavender, rose, iris, carnation
  • Base notes: Haitian vetiver, Yugoslavian oakmoss, Mysore sandalwood, orris, musk


The Delineator, 1935:
"PERFUMES FOR SPORT. Schiaparelli, the brilliant couturiere, has just put out some perfumes. Her first. "Schiap" which is dedicated to the sportswoman, is our favorite, but for indoors "Salut" is pretty fetching."
